يهدف مركز معلومات التكنولوجيا الحيوية إلى توصيل مفهوم التكنولوجيا الحيوية والهندسة الوراثية وتطبيقاتها إلى كل فئات المجتمع وتنمية مداركه في هذا الشأن ، كما أنه يقوم بدور هام في إيضاح  كل من الفوائد والمخاطر المحتملة - إن وجدت - والتي يمكن أن تنتج عن تطبيقات التكنولوجيا الحيوية، من خلال حوار يتسم بالعقلانية والشفافية

 About Us  

The Biotechnology Information Center – Egypt, is a not-for-profit center, established jointly between the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri – Biotech Applications (ISAAA) that delivers the benefits of agricultural biotechnology to the poor in developing countries and establish an enabling environment for their safe and effective use. EBIC is located at the Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute (AGERI), Agricultural Research Center (ARC).

EBIC is one of The Biotechnology Information Centers (BIC’s) that conceder as  a heart of Global Knowledge Center (KC) on Crop Biotechnology. (KC) is a science-based information network responding dynamically to the need of developing countries, it facilitates the flow of information and exchange of experiences on crop biotechnology between and among the developed and developing countries. (KC) is based at the ISAAA SEAsia Center at its headquarters in the Philippines.

The mission of EBIC is to inform and promote the public awareness on   biotechnology and genetic engineering applications and works as a link between scientists and the public by simplifying the scientific information to be understandable for all levels of the society, as well as clarifying both benefits and potential risks through reasonable and transparent talks.

Activities and publications:

  1. Issuing an Arabic newsletter “Roayah” includes local and international news on biotechnology.
  2. Issuing a bimonthly English newsletter “VISION” includes International researches and news on biotechnology.
  3. Holding conferences, workshops and writing articles on biotechnology to be published in different newspapers and magazines.
  4. Create two characters “DNA & RNA” to facilitate the flow of information and be more convinced to the kids.   
  5. Establishing the first Arabic website on biotechnology :
